Come Ride With Us

Goal: Create images of a new motorcycle and a rider that could be included in existing Honda motorcycle brand advertisements.

Challenge(s): Designing images that could fit the existing advertisement campaigns. This was a one day shoot so a plan was needed to make best use of time, minimize travel, and maximize the use of available light. The rider would be included in some images but would not be the focus of them. The bike is essentially black-on-black, so implementing lighting for details and shape was very important.

Solution: Pre-work was completed to select potential shooting locations and understand the lighting conditions and requirements of each. Also, research was done to review brand advertisements for project inspiration. This allowed me to identify what equipment I would need to bring to the session and be as prepared as possible (this included touch up cleaning materials for the bike). The three slogans selected helped guide the final design decisions including what site to use, what to include in each frame, and the intended feel of the shots. Compositions were made that communicate each those messages and shot to allow the inclusion of the campaign logos and text. All equipment was staged for use as much as possible with strobes, soft boxes, and reflectors being used to compensate the natural light when necessary.

Result: This set of photographs could be used in an existing brand advertising campaign or stand on their own. Images designed for specific slogans pair with them well and can be used in color or black and white. These photographs can be used for a variety of materials including magazines, advertisements, social media, posters, and more.
