Ceramics

Goal: This project was about using multiple pieces of ceramics to build a group of images that could be used for a person’s portfolio, catalog, advertising, and sales. The different pieces available for this are by different artists but would work well for the project.

Challenge(s): The vases chosen have a variety of colors, textures, and shapes. The final images should have a consistent look and feel.

Solution: A consistent lighting approach was important for this set. Large diffusers were placed on each side of the subject with strobes behind them at the same distance and angle on each side. A neutral background and deck were chosen to allow color adjustments to match the subject in post processing. The subjects were each placed at the same location and shot from a tripod mounted camera.

Result: A set of high quality images that are unique but have a consistent presentation. Background and deck colors sere selected to be complimentary to the subjects in a each photograph. This is a set of images that can be used in advertising, catalogs, social media, cards, and more.
