Stemware
Goal: The goal of this project was to show several pieces of stemware in a variety of ways.
Challenge(s): Glass can be both highly reflective and transparent. Controlling both of those aspects while showing the design, scale, and transparency of the subjects are highly important.
Solution: To maximize how much control I had over the lighting and surrounding environment, I chose to shoot in my studio. I used the same set of glasses and two main lighting techniques – dark field and bright field lighting. Both techniques provide a different mood for the subject and allow different options for their final use. Each series shows how delicate glassware can be photographed to show different aspects of the subjects. The dark field images show more of an implied structure to the subject, where the bright field images show how delicate each item can be. To avoid any color cast on the background or deck, the red, gold, and blue colors were applied in post production.
Result: A unique set of crisp, attractive images providing several options for a variety of materials such as signage, posters, logos, business cards, flyers, social media, menus, announcements, and more.
